Ok, so I had dinner tonight with a couple of friends who work at Amazon. I’m not at liberty to say what the glitch was, but it was absolutely an unintentional glitch. A combination of automated technology, unforeseen cascading affects, international cultural differences, and a stupid person. TOTALLY innocent.
Of course, the PR decision not to share the really simple explanation may be a mistake. I suppose they’d rather be suspected of being malicious than have it known how they screwed up.
